Nicki Minaj has finally released her oh so anticipated debut Album ‘Pink Friday’. The running up to her album release has been a very long and nail biting one, as she’s made sure that no one had leaked her precious soon-to-be smash hits.

November 22nd was the official release date when the album was finally dropped into stores and it looks like everyone cannot wait to get their hands on it. Mile long queues outside of HMVs all around the UK, and people camping out the night before the golden day in America was not at all a surprise on the day. With re-mastered/re-mixed tracks such as Your Love and celebrity features such as Drake and Will.I.Am, the album will definitely be something to remember.

Nicki Minaj

Minaj, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, is a hip-hop artist from Trinidad and Tobago. She lived with her grandmother until the age of five, because her parents were looking for a place to live in the Queens, New York City. One day, when Minaj was five, her mother picked her up to move to Queens.

While growing up Nicki says she was surrounded by constant trouble and fighting between her parents.  So to escape her real life problems she would create characters and live her life through them. She stated to get away from all their fighting, she would imagine being a new person. “Cookie” was her first identity, then went on to “Harajuku Barbie”, then “Nicki Minaj”. She says fantasy is her reality.

Minaj had an interest in hip-hop and created some mixtape tracks, and in 2008 she won the Female Artist of the Year award at the Underground Music Awards. Minaj released Beam Me Up Scotty, another mixtape, in April 2009 which received positive on MTV.
