Biffy Clyro are an internationally renowned trio from the little village of Kilmarnock in Scotland, comprised of Simon Neil and Brothers James and Ben Johnston, who successfully combine powerful vocals, heart pounding drumming and mesmeric guitar riffs putting on a show the fans will never forget.

I went to see Biffy Clyro at Wembley Arena back in december 2010. Arriving 2 hours before doors opened was boring and cold, and on entering we were all told to be seated on the floor by the stewards, but it was worth the wait because the special guests were Futureheads, and a little known band from Norwich called Holy State opened the show and got everyone warmed up and ready for Biffy.

The lights went down, the steady military beat of a drum could be heard, getting louder and louder with every beat the crowd waited in anticipation chanting, “MON THE BIFF” (which basically means “COME ON THE BIFF”) and unexpectedly the tension was ripped to pieces as the trio burst onto the stage with the 2010 chart topping track “The Captain” and the whole arena jumped up with a sudden raw of energy.  The night carried on with recent tracks like “Booooom Blast & Ruin” from the most recent album “Only Revolutions” and an acoustic performance of the classic track “Folding Stars” where the audience swayed in complete awe to Simon’s soft voice. The show ended with a four song encore, ending with “Mountains”. The pyrotechnics and set design made the show even more memorable. There was a standing ovation from the whole of the crowd.

The experience as a whole was amazing, not just the concert but the anticipation beforehand and the post concert feeling knowing that it was well worth the money, the travelling and the standing in the cold for what felt like forever, from a performance like that, Biffy Clyro are here to stay.

“MON THE BIFF!”
