‘Kick-Ass’, released in 2010, is a superhero action movie, that can also be called a dark comedy,  based on the comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.  It’s something new and out there; it is a spectacular, fresh and original film which exploits the normal ways of super hero films. It stars Aaron Johnson, (who plays Dave Lizewski) who sets out to become a real-life superhero, calling himself “Kick-Ass”. Dave gets caught up in the superhero world and gets into trouble with his superhero acquaintances, including Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).

After the thrilling film Kick-Ass, a super hero movie unlike any that has gone before, there will surely be a worth while wait for the sequel Kick-Ass 2. There have been rumours about a sequel, and it has been recently announced that Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall, will enter production this year for a release date in 2012. Kick-Ass 2 will focus on Mindy/Hit-girl’s story and how she trains Dave/Kick-Ass, they prepare for the arrival of The Red Mist, who has been gathering a team of ‘Super villains’ to take both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl down.

The story begins a few months after the events of Kick-Ass. Mindy is living a double life, trying to train Dave to make him a more efficient hero while being pressured to give up vigilantism by Marcus, her godfather, who wishes her to lead a normal life with him and her mother. Meanwhile, Dave/Kick-Ass has taken to patrolling with various other heroes. Ever since the attack on John Genovese, heroes have taken to the streets and are generally accepted by the public as part of everyday life. At the same time Red Mist is gathering Super villains’ to take down Kick Ass.

Millar has stated that he has imagined Kick-Ass to be a trilogy of films. Millar also remarked that having super villains was a natural consequence of creating a world of superheroes. A Hit-Girl spin-off was announced at Kapow Comicon. The series will focus on Hit-Girl’s story between Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2.
