My family and I recently went on an unforgettable holiday to southern Turkey, for one week. We started our holiday with a four hour evening flight from Birmingham airport to Milas Bodrum Havalimani airport in Turkey. All of us were really tired at the end of the flight, but had to sit through a two hour coach journey to arrive at our resort!

As a result, we spent the first day just relaxing by the pool and exploring the local area. The resort called Bitez, had many shops, restaurants and bars. But surprisingly, Bitez was fairly rural and quiet which was good.  Also, the local people were very friendly.

We spent our second day on a one-day boat cruise exploring the surrounding islands. Amazingly, while on this cruise, a tiny boat came along selling ice cream in the middle of nowhere! Likewise, my family enjoyed eating the complimentary lunch, courtesy of the trip organisers.

The day afterwards all of us took the bus service to the city of Bodrum, which was around a half hour journey. Bodrum had many shops, restaurants and bars. But the best part of the daytrip was exploring Bodrum castle and learning about Turkish history and cultures.

In the country, all of us discovered that there are vibrant and busy towns with many clubs and shops. But there are also many quiet and rural areas for people who prefer to have a more relaxing holiday. So there are places in Turkey for all kinds of people! For teenagers, I would recommend staying in a resort near Bodrum as there are many karaoke bars and clubs.

Before the holiday, I was not looking forward to the trip because we had visited Turkey before and I thought it would be just a repeat of the last holiday. However, I would say that the adventure was easily one of the best holidays ever- we met some really friendly and caring people. Certainly an unforgettable and worthwhile experience!
