Understandably, there are a lot of people that are introverted or perhaps just don’t want to be embarrassed when they don’t understand something, feels the teacher has moved on too quickly or even just want to clarify something they’re not certain on.
If you’re one of these people, for the love of God, keep reading!
Firstly, you need to understand that knowing that one thing you decided not to ask about could end up being the deciding factor between an A and a B. If you don’t raise up your hand and say “Sorry miss, I don’t understand.” then you are in danger of dropping an entire grade. This could obviously prevent you from getting into a college you like the look of, a University or even a job.
If you put your life and your ambitions into perspective alongside potential embarrassment in front of a class of people who not only will you not know all of in a few years time, but who will have forgotten about it within a week, then it is always better to ask for help.
If you need something explaining; ask!
The teachers are there to TEACH YOU.
It is their JOB.
They get PAID to answer your questions and correct you if you’re wrong.
Education is a right and if you don’t utilise it and make sure you’re going into that exam feeling confident with your ability and your knowledge, then you’re increasingly more likely to come out of that exam hall having not got those grades you need.
But most importantly, next time you’re wondering whether or not to ask for help, remember this: Anyone who laughs at you for asking there and then will be in the same situation at another time and when they don’t ask, you’ll be the one coming out with the better grades…
…And a better life.
