ReConnected comprises of three members of boyband Connected as seen on Britains Got Talent 2010. The boys made the Grand final of the popular Talent show but following the BGT tour, Connected unfortunately split and brothers Max and Harry and friend Matt formed Reconnected. Taking their inspiration from boybands like Westlife and Take that, the boys hope to work towards a more modern take on the typical boyband, adding a hint of Justin Bieber style to the mix!

ReConnected are now hoping to break onto the public music scene. They are meeting with songwriters for ideas to put onto their first album which will hopefully be released in 2011. I met up with the guys when they came to perform in Dudley, here is what they had to say…

ReConnected Interview

Name, age and random fact
Harry, 14 I’m not good at random stuff… When I was younger I used to compete in gymnastics for the Northwest.
Matt, 13, and I’ve got really dodgy knee’s
Max, 16, and I really like girls.

Where are you all from?
All 3 of us are from Manchester.

How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
Matt - Since October 2006, it was at a singing competition which Harry & Max’s mum was running and I tried out. A couple of years later we got together and formed the band.

Where did the name of your band come from?
Harry - Obviously we were on Britain’s Got Talent with another 2 guys, but because of creative differences, management decisions, and we wanted different things for the future so we had to legally change the name. But there is also a recording band in the US called connected, so we had to change it. We thought if we changed it a little bit people would recognise us but know we were different.

Can you tell us about the new single?
Yes, but we can’t tell you the name yet. We can tell you that it is out in February 2011.

When is your album coming out? What is it called?
Max - It’s out in 2011 as well with the single. But again we can’t give it you because we don’t even know it!
Matt – It’s generally the name of your band. It will possibly be self-titled.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
Matt - Justin Bieber, but my personal fave would be Backstreet Boys or Westlife.

Who writes your songs?
We have some songwriters in London. We will get in touch with them one day and they’ll write some really good songs. We actually came straight from London to Dudley because we were recording with our songwriters. The songs are amazing.

How busy have you been since Britain’s Got Talent? How had your life changed?
Very. Incredibly busy. We don’t get any spare time. We’re literally recording, doing gigs, rehearsing all the time. And then spare time is like doing our school/college work. People tend to forget about that, but we have a good school commitment.

What’s the best place you’ve performed and why?
Tamworth (Midlands Music Festival), there was like 20,000 people. And it was really good too. It had a really good line up, Westlife, The Saturdays, The Wanted all really nice guys, Chico, Twist & Pulse, Taio Cruz and Peter Andre.

What do you do with your days off?
We don’t have days off. But in our spare time we like watching movies, playing on my Xbox360, computer stuff or shopping. Yeah, that’s what our gig money is being spent on.

What has been your biggest challenge as a new boy band?
Probably the split was quite hard. But we’ve come out the end of it now and we’re both performing so we wish them all the luck in the world and they really are nice guys. Things are going really well. Hopefully everything goes well in February and then we’ll see what happens from there.

Where do you hope to see yourselves in 5 years time?
Harry – I see myself being older.
Matt – We want to be performing at arenas with people like Take That, Westlife.
Max – We want our albums to be selling. Hopefully going platinum. Bringing out more albums. And enjoying every second of it.
