I’m sure many of you have been watching the Apprentice! After 12 weeks this years Apprentice is Stella English, beating runner-up Chris Bates.

The final task comprised of each team (managed by finalists Chris and Stella) coming up with a marketable alcohol product. Most of the contestants from this year’s task came back to lend a hand, although I did notice a few people missing such as Stuart and Sandeesh. Stella and Chris each delivered a product of high quality on the toughest task they’d face, and there was a point when I thought Lord Sugar would shock us all and hire them both!

One memorable contestant of this year’s apprentice is surely Stuart. Stuart Baggs’ memorable desperate boardroom (Week 10) plea was a laugh, or should I call him by his full name ‘Stuart Baggs The Brand.’  “I’m not a one trick pony, I’m not a ten trick pony, I’m a field of ponies.” Tough fighting talk I’m sure we all agree!

However as I recall, he was confronted. His interviewer quite eloquently exclaimed “You’re not a brand.” Nonetheless, there’s always the egotistical contestant in a reality show providing comical value. Do you remember last year’s contestant Phillip ‘Pants Man’ Taylor? or the year before with Lee’s dinosaur impression? You’d think these people would learn not to engage in silly antics on a serious show where a six figure salary is at stake! My favourite egotistical contestant was on last year’s show – Ben ‘Sandhurst’ Clarke. It was like he was part of a bet with his mates to see how many times he could mention he had a Scholarship to Sandhurst.

The girls were seriously bitchy at the start of the show. I never thought I’d see loud mouthed Joanna in the final 12 weeks ago, but over the weeks her attitude began to evolve. I was surprised to learn how much she has achieved throughout her career so far. She left school with no GCSE’s and set up her own business from scratch much like his Lordship himself. Also Stella claimed in one episode she was practically homeless at one point in her life. I think lord Sugar likes contestants in which he sees a little of himself in: hardworking, sharp and shrewd grafters working from the bottom up.

The tasks each week have been a complementing concoction of intensity and fun. My favourite was the buying task; each team had a list of 10 random items and had a day to buy them at the cheapest price. As each group ran around like headless chickens in the Capital, it was the boys who emerged victorious. The girls made some fundamental errors; Stella for example was never going to find cheap truffles in Knightsbridge.

Concluding this year, the sharp-tongued, fast-paced final interviews provided an insight into the toughest job interviews out there. (I was glad to see Margaret Mountford back in the final episode).

Also, the Junior Apprentice is back for a second year, so we won’t have to wait long to see Nick Hewer’s ‘thinking face’ or to hear one of Lord Sugar’s classic one liners.

But what did you think of this year’s Apprentice? Should Stella have won? Should Liz have gone?
